Florence Restaurants Guide

If you're hungry and visiting Florence, here are our reviews & recommendations for some great restaurants.  We've gathered these Florence restaurants on our many trips to inspect apartments and our waistlines prove it!  Many are the traditional Florentine Trattoria serving up typical Tuscan cuisine - heavy on the meat dishes, however you can always opt for a hearty Ribollita which will easily satisfy and warm you up on a winters day.

Trattoria Marione

Great service, delicious Tuscan cuisine, we enjoyed a delicious home made pasta with wild boar and paricularly enjoyed being the only foreigners in this traditional trattoria, just off via Tornabuoni, I am sure that anybody desiring a classic Florentine trattoria would be more than satisfied with all aspects of this establishment.

La Spada - Trattoria and Rosticceria
via della Spada 62/r
tel: 055 218757
We discovered this very traditional Trattoria in Florence by accident in 1998 and have returned for a bowl of classic Ribolitta for lunch during our inspection trips or a Sunday lunch when the trattoria is full of local families enjoying being overfed in true Tuscan style. The Rosticceria serves up roasted chickens and and meat and roast potatoes and vegetables as well as baked pastas to take away, this is the perfect take home meal if you are renting an apartment and are too tired to cook or go out for dinner.

Procacci
via Tornabuoni 64/r

Procacci is a landmark wine bar in the famous upmarket shopping street of via Tornabuoni in Florence.  This is one of the few remaining original stores in via Tornabuoni,  if you want to experience Florence as it once was - same furnishings, beautiful terrazza floors and dark wood panelling, drop in for morning coffee, a light delicious lunch or an aperatif (closes at 8pm). Antinori bought  Procacci in 2001 saving it from the usual fate like the English Pharmacy across the street which is now a Todds store, fortunately retaining it's original fascades.  Procacci serves wines from Antinori as well as it's famous small soft rolls with Truffles which are absolutley not to be missed.  There are also many gift options like truffles and jams etc.. and gift bags.
