Florence Area Guides

If you've never been to Florence before, then you're going to need to know some important facts to help you get the very best out of it. It's not an easy city for beginners - there are so many people in this famous Renaissance city (both tourists and locals), that it can be a little overpowering for the beginner.

Given the small size of Florence, nearly all the main tourist attractions are in the historical center of the city ('centro storico' in Italian), but you'd likely never get to see it all if you're only here for a short visit.

Florence is a veritable cornucopia of classical art treasures that date back centuries. Apparently it has more art treasures per square foot than any other famous art city in the world! Unless you're visiting for more than a month, you'll be hard pressed to see everything of historic significance.

However, even if you don't go art treasure crazy in Florence, it has plenty of other wonderful attractions to brighten up your day. There are many fabulous, but less well known, museums & churches to visit, and even if you just decided to explore the great bars, trattorias & piazzas, you'll have no lack of things to do and see in this most magnificent city.

So, from here, you can click through to read the Area Guide information we have written for you. The idea being, you can learn about the different areas and decide which one you prefer to stay in when you're in Florence. For now, these are not huge lists of facts & figures, but we'll update them as time goes by.
